Start with the news release Laser interferometer upgrades calibration service from Renishaw, which we summarised at the time by saying "A calibration service company has recently upgraded its laser calibration system with a laser interferometer, which minimises transportation and set-up times". Earlier in the week, we featured the news release Plastics melt indexer is more accurate for QC from Zwick Roell: "A melt flow indexer with an advanced heating and temperature control system achieves much better temperature accuracy and stability than existing products in plastics extrusion quality control".
 
In August 2007, we covered the news from Renishaw concerning its XL-80 laser unit and XC-80 compensator - take a look at Compact laser interferometer has portability which says: "A compact laser interferometer measurement system offers more performance, ease of use and reduced the typical 'warm-up' time for the laser to around 5 min".
