Start with the news release Portable laser tracker is more accurate from Leica Geosystems AG, which we summarised at the time by saying "Easily portable laser tracker claims substantial advances in thermal stability and volumetric accuracy, accelerated start-up times, major speed improvements and a maintenance-free internal design". Earlier in the week, we featured the news release Handheld vibration analyser has smartphone from Datastick Systems: "What is believed to be the first handheld vibration analyzer with smartphone has been introduced for machine diagnostics and predictive maintenance".
 
In February 2008, we covered the news from Yokogawa Europe - Industrial Automation concerning its EtherNet/IP compatible communication interface - take a look at Data communication interface introduced which says: "A compatible communication interface for industrial recorders and data acquisition equipment eliminates the need for dedicated software to connect with other devices".
