We see from your search that you're looking for information on the term "Linear Encoders", and we have a large number of manufacturers' news releases and technical articles here on Manufacturingtalk which will be of interest. Let me be your guide.

Start with the news release Encoder system checks rotary, linear moves from Newall Measurement Systems, which we summarised at the time by saying "A flexible, magnetically encoded tape scale for rotary and linear automation applications can be mounted quickly and easily on any fixed surfaces using the adhesive side of the tape". A few weeks before, we featured the news release Linear air bearing stage has active preload from Aerotech: "A linear air bearing stage has active preload for excellent positioning performance and has friction free mechanics, motor and encoder that provide a practically unlimited working life".

In August 2007, we covered the news from Newall Measurement Systems concerning its MAG-TS incremental linear encoder - take a look at Linear encoder ensures accurate cutting-off which says: "An incremental linear encoder fitted to a billet cutting-off saw enables tighter tolerance cutting, so avoiding wastage in cutting expensive nickel alloys stock".

Take a look also at the news release from Newall Measurement Systems, Linear encoders enliven vertical boring mills, as well as Linear encoders provide automation accuracy from Newall Measurement Systems, and Gantry positioning stages are directly driven from Aerotech.
