We see from your search that you're looking for information on the term "Modbus Protocol", and we have a large number of manufacturers' news releases and technical articles here on Manufacturingtalk which will be of interest. Let me be your guide.

Start with the news release Controller performs PID loops outside the PLC from Eurotherm, which we summarised at the time by saying "A controller can perform PID loops outside the PLC without compromising the benefits of an integrated system, allowing temperature and pressure to be maintained in event of PLC failure". Several months prior to that, we featured the news release Continuous thermal monitoring reduces downtime from QHi Group: "QHi Group has developed the Exertherm system, a continuous infrared temperature monitoring system that can detect the rises associated with imminent electrical and mechanical equipment failure".

In April 2007, we covered the news from Ethernet Direct concerning its RUM series modules - take a look at Modbus gateway and DAQ modules which says: "BMM series modbus TCP is designed to allow modbus protocol to be carries over TCP/IP based networks".

Take a look also at the news release from Control Microsystems, New SCADA operating interface, as well as Enterprise Integration with Ethernet from Lantronix, and Measurement performance in flow applications from Emerson Process Management.
