Start with the news release Digital CCD microscope is small, light weight from Moritex Europe, which we summarised at the time by saying "A small, lightweight, 2.11 megapixel digital CCD microscope features an integrated 3.5in LCD monitor, flash memory storage and offers magnification up to 500x". A few weeks before, we featured the news release Laser probe for portable inspection system from Hexagon Metrology: "Romer has announced the launch of the ScanShark V5 laser probe, an addition to their portable inspection and reverse engineering systems, which includes Infinite portable CMM, software and PC".
 
In May 2007, we covered the news from Faro UK concerning its On-machine inspection - take a look at Measurement device for on-machine inspection which says: "Faro Technologies has developed the PowerGAGE, a portable measurement device that enables manufacturers to verify that a part meets CAD specifications".
