Start with the news release Larger VMC has 50 taper spindle from Yamazaki Mazak UK, which we summarised at the time by saying "In response to market demand, including mould and die makers, a machine tool builder has introduced a larger vertical machining centre with a 50 taper spindle". Earlier in the week, we featured the news release Vertical machining centre shortens cycle times from Yamazaki Mazak UK: "Travelling column vertical machining centre brings a subcontractor shorter cycle times and ensure high accuracy positioning over extended periods of operation".
 
In January 2008, we covered the news from DMG (UK) concerning its DMU 200FD 5-axis universal milling centre - take a look at GBP 8 million invested in 5-axis milling which says: "UK subcontactor has invested over GBP 8 million in advanced machining over the last three years including five-sides, 5-axis milling and multi-axis mill/turn centres".
