Start with the news release SV-1000 increases two-stroke engines' power output from Sunnen Products Company, which we summarised at the time by saying "Sunnen has introduced the SV-1000 vertical CNC honing machine, which allows manufacturers of outdoor power equipment to improve the durability and power output of small two-stroke engines.". Several months prior to that, we featured the news release Barden manufactures cylindrical roller bearings from Barden Corporation: "The Barden Corporation has announced it is able to manufacture a range of cylindrical roller bearings up to 150mm outside diameter.".
 
In July 2009, we covered the news from NCMT - take a look at Makino machining centres cut titanium faster which says: "Japanese machine-tool builder Makino has introduced the Makino T4 and T2 five-axis, high power, horizontal machining centres for machining components from titanium and its alloys.".

  • Vacuum mats hold machined work pieces fast

    Two vacuum workholding fixtures consist of a disposable rubber mat with individual suckers that hold the component flat, while machining can penetrate it without reducing clamping efficiency.
  • Grip difficult work pieces from within

    Once a machine part needs to undergo 'second operation' work, its complexity can provide work holding problems, but an internally operating expanding clamp could be the answer.
