Parts feeding system is quickly
adaptable
Parts feeding system uses a fast and precise robot, an integrated, high resolution machine vision system and an extremely innovative flexible feed system to cope with changing products.
GRASP, the Guided Robot Automatic Sorting of Parts can drastically reduce 'time to market' from weeks to hours for the introduction of new or changed products Designed by AA Robotics, GRASP consists of a fast precise Denso Robot, an integrated, high resolution Cognex machine vision camera and an extremely innovative flexible feed system

Aylesbury Automation, has announced the formation of a new division, AA Robotics, to service the increasing demands of manufacturing industry.
Robotic knife blade dispenser packaging
A new robotic process at Stanley Tools has significantly reduced handling operations and improved productivity in knife blade dispenser packaging operations.
AA Robotics said that a parts can now be fed utilising the GRASP system and usually an entire machine process can be removed from many small component manufacturing or packaging tasks.
* Operation - GRASP uses a vision system to inspect parts, identify their shape and orientate them correctly before a robot places them in the next process.
There is no need to use a bowl feeder or the orientate components so that in some cases an entire machine can be eliminated from the process.
No mechanical parts are required to enable quick component change-over and new product developments can therefore be accommodated with minimum disruption to manufacturing or packing operations.
The system comes in various forms from a 'stand alone machine' to a base plate which OEMs can build into their machine or process.
GRASP comprises three stages.
* A bulk storage hopper delivers parts to the start of the process.
* A vision system recognises the location of the parts.
* At the third stage robot ensures the correct location of each part.
The entire process can operate at less than one second depending upon distance, orientation changes and the weights of components.
Parts up to 70mm2 and up to 50g can be processed by GRASP.
AA Robotics' managing director ,David Manby, said: "Industry is increasingly seeking future-proof solutions." Manby told manufacturingtalk.com that he and his team had designed GRASP.
He added: "The development of GRASP has been designed to provide quick, easy turn-round solutions, where the same process can be used for similar parts and changes can be accommodated rapidly.
Manufacturing and packaging industries now demand maximum flexibility".
The GRASP system uses the speed and accuracy of a Denso robot, a Cognex camera with its advanced PATMAX technology together with the bulk storage feeder with a 150 litre capacity, all cables and lighting.
