IDS South has been appointed distributor for ABB Drives in Surrey, Berkshire and south Buckinghamshire, offering sales, service and repairs as well as energy appraisals and drive dimensioning.

ABB Drives Alliance has expanded with a new member in Woking, Surrey IDS South is the latest addition to the network, providing drives expertise to customers in the Surrey, Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire area

IDS South is a new branch of long-standing ABB Drives Alliance member, Inverter Drive Systems of Nottingham (IDS East Midlands).

This latest addition to the ABB Drives Alliance network will deliver round-the-clock support for variable speed drive users, providing sales, service and repairs as well as energy appraisals, drive dimensioning, harmonics calculations and EMC assessments.

It will also supply drives from Europe's largest stock of off-the-shelf drives up to 400 kW.

The new branch is led by Southern Sales Manager John Bennett and Technical Manager Peter Livesey, who have some 40 years of engineering experience between them.

In addition, Blaise Ford, Managing Director of IDS East Midlands is working closely with the southern team.

"IDS East Midlands has grown rapidly to become one of the largest distributors for ABB," says Ford.

"We're now taking the same business model and applying it to IDS South".

"We have the full technical backing of IDS East Midlands, extensive local stock and offer the full package of Drives Alliance products and services," says Bennett.

The added local presence provided by IDS South covers some of the most densely populated areas of England.

"There are a lot of things happening in this part of the world," says Bennett.

"IDS South aims to increase the market share that ABB already enjoys in this important region".

As well as the high-tech research and manufacturing companies common throughout the region, he expects local authorities and water companies to be major customers.

"The extra coverage provided by IDS South means that ABB can now serve customers in the south of England better than ever," says Steve Hughes, ABB's Drives Channel Manager.

"Our new partner will provide the local presence and rapid response that today's customers demand".
