ABB is set to host two more of its technology days on July 6 and 7, at the ABB Solutions Centre, Milton Keynes (UK).

Though the final line-up of systems and machines is yet to be confirmed, ABB said that visitors can expect to see several debutantes, including the official UK launch of the IRB 1600 small robot, IRB 660 palletiser, IRB 260 packing robot and IRB 4450 'shelf' robot.

The company will also be demonstrating its robot controllers, software and peripherals, as well as providing free robot training and a range of interactive displays throughout the two days.

ABB's new small robot, the IRB 1600, will be on show in a typical plastic injection moulding machine cell, and it is complemented by a new software product, Robotware - Plastics Moulding.

The company added that effective team working with robots is now a viable and economic proposition - achieved through ABB's new robot controller the IRC5 and its embedded Multimove function.

Visitors will be able to see the IRC5, with regular demonstrations.

A range of what ABB described as 'service technologies' demonstrations will take place, including a look at 'Smartspares' - a way to manage and track the usage of critical automation spares, to ensure that parts are easily accessible when they are needed most, during a breakdown, added the company.

ABB will have a robot reconditioning and 'asset optimisation' display area, will stage paint process demonstrations and technology updates, with presentations by ABB staff on trends and new technologies, overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and a Real TPI demonstration.

David Marshall, ABB's business manager for robotics, commented: "Our technology days bring together all that is new in robot-based manufacturing under one roof.

For the smallest manufacturing outfit right through to the largest multi-national company, there will be ABB products, demonstrations, new technologies and helpful advice, which will be directly relevant to improving an organisation's manufacturing efficiency.
