Fifth generation robot controller represents the biggest technological step forward since the introduction of the first generation series in 1974, says robot builder.
Injection moulder installs painting robots
Plastic injection moulding experts Rosti (Scotland), based in Larkhall near Glasgow, installed its first ABB paint robots in 1994 to evaluate their merits against manual spraying.
ABB Robotics said that PickMaster 5 is the most convenient tool for programming robots in palletising and material handling applications.
The new software succeeds ABB's well known FlexPalletizer system and is the result of 10 years' experience combined with state of the art flexible software.
No specialised robot programming is required, yet, unlike so many 'user friendly' systems, the software is open and accessible for the highest flexibility.
The design of the software allows for late changes in the application without the need for re-programming.
PickMaster applications are configured off-line using a standard PC or laptop with application specific data.
The configuration file is then transferred to the IRC5 robot controller over Ethernet.
Once configured and transferred, PickMaster runs independently of the PC on the controller, using ABB's FlexPendant as a straightforward intuitive interface.
PickMaster 5 supports installations with one or several robots working in across multiple stations with lines in and out delivering and feeding diverse box dimensions and a large number of different packing formats.
Mixing different products from many stations to one pallet is as simple as distributing loads to several palletising stations.
A powerful pallet-pattern generator is included that involves multi-drop movements with multi-zone vacuum tools or mechanical grippers.
PickMaster 5 is set to become the new industry benchmark in robotic software, thanks to its flexibility, functionality, scalability, user-friendliness and connectivity to large-scale industrial IT systems. Request a free brochure from ABB Robotics ...
