Drive design, low inertia/high-speed characteristics and intuitive Windows based software, enable a CMM to cut inspection times and eradicate quality department 'bottlenecks'.

Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) manufacturer, Aberlink, will show its robust, yet very accurate 'Extreme' CMM at the UK's Southern Manufacturing exhibition (February 6 and 7, 2008) The innovative machine's mechanism, scales and guideways are entirely enclosed within a tough steel structure making it ideal for shop-floor use, said Aberlink

The company's advanced drive design, low inertia/high-speed characteristics and intuitive Windows based software, enable the Extreme to slash inspection times and remove previous quality department bottlenecks.

Available in manual and CNC formats, the cost-effective Aberlink Extreme offers a measuring envelope of 400 x 400 x 400mm.

Aberlink will also show the latest CNC version of its 'Project X' Optical Measuring device.

The device uses Aberlink's patented, Colour-Matrix scale, which allows X,Y and rotational positions to be plotted with great levels of accuracy.

The robust unit has a large measuring capacity of 400 x 300mm with 125mm of motorised Z-axis focus.

Selling for the same price as a conventional optical profile projector, the 'Project X' has much more functionality and improved accuracy.

Project X occupies a relatively small foot-print, and is equally at home within a company's inspection department or on a shop-floor, said Aberlink.
