Capture interface for AV in vision applications

An Absolute Vision product story

Absolute Vision's interface unit for use with its AVM-30 code reader, AV Capture, is a small hardware device that enables USB2 video streaming onto a PC or laptop.

Absolute Vision, a specialist developer of Data Matrix and Optical Code Reading solutions, announced an interface unit for use with its AVM-30 code reader.

AV Capture is a small hardware device that enables USB2 video streaming onto a PC or laptop.

Already in use with some electronics organisations for Data Matrix code-reading, this new device alleviates the need for expensive frame grabbers.

Housed in an industrialised IP54 casing, the new AV Capture has a footprint of just 65mm x 140mm and a height of 30mm.

It provides efficient and effective data transfer in a minimum of space, combined with a 12 Volt power supply to the camera, negating the need for a separate power source.

Video data can be taken from any CCIR, PAL camera or other composite input device and fed into Absolute Vision's proven Medusa code-reading software.

Data can be transferred automatically to any third party software application and there is scope for customising the data string format.

The AVM-30 code reader is a small, hand-held system for reading Data Matrix codes on high contrast labels as well as marks applied to a range of surfaces including polished metals such as steels, alloys and titanium, rubbers and plastics of virtually any colour.

Used in combination with the new AV Capture interface, the reader can be used up to 100m away from the processor.

Up to 30 readers can be configured to work simultaneously on any one site.
