Abas Customer Forum "Trends 2007"

An ABAS Software AG product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Sep 12, 2006

Trends 2007 provides information about ERP, eBusiness and other IT solutions.

On September 21 and 22, 2006, the annual Customer Forum of the Abas Software AG will take place at the Kongresszentrum (Congress centre) in Karlsruhe.

About 1000 participants from medium-sized businesses from the production, trade and service sector are expected to participate in the two day event.

The program includes lectures and workshops regarding Abas Business Software (ERP, PPC, MRP, eBusiness) innovations, as well as useful contributions of Abas Sales and Cooperation Partners who will take up various IT topics.

In the introductory lecture by the CEO Werner Strub and the COO Peter Forscht the focus will be placed on aspects such as economic security, strategic planning, technical continuity and evolutionary system technology.

Thus, Abas offers medium-sized businesses long-term perspectives.

eBusiness is increasingly becoming a "necessity" for medium-sized businesses.

Cost pressure and the demand for more service play a decisive role.

The priority is to have the partners and customers participate in the development, sales and production process.

This can be supported by the eBusiness solution Abas eB with numerous innovations.

The many Abas eB customer projects show how diversified the applications are: since May 2006 MAUTHE from Balingen, a specialist for customised calendar products, has realised its Web appearance completely with Abas eB.

The Anton Debatin , a producer of innovative packaging solutions, opts for Abas eB to optimise internal logistical processes.

In times of globalization, increasing competition and the resulting pricing pressure, the Abas Service centre provides companies with the perfect possibility to stand out from the competition.

The service area gains effectiveness through faster reaction times and customer service support through a service centre.

The Customer satisfaction is increased, a long-term customer loyalty is achieved.

The Abas Service centre supports the service technician when preparing an assignment on customer site.

As a part of Abas eB the service centre can be operated in the browser and can be accessed by the service employees via the Internet worldwide - up-to-date information as a necessity for quality in the service business.

The Abas Web Portal enables a central access to the IT world with which individually tailored, internal and external business information and services can be accessed by the users.

The workshop shows how an individual, Web-based view to processes in Abas ERP can be configured in the Abas ERP Dashboard.

By connecting external services, new fields of application can be developed (Mashup).

Using the GoogleMap portal it will be demonstrated how, for example, sales order data from Abas ERP can be visualized in a map.

The Web appearance can be maintained with the integrated CMS system.

Moreover, a new portal server provides improved administration and operation, many design variants and over 50 portlets.

Abas customers increasingly use Abas ERP worldwide.

To be able to operate successfully internationally with Abas ERP, many aspects need to be taken into account.

In addition to the software itself, an international project management is the most important requirement to master the numerous challenges successfully.

In this lecture the way users, sales partners and Abas Software AG work together successfully will be highlighted by means of an example.

Version 2006 of the business software contains many innovations and function expansions which will be presented at the Customer Forum.

There will be, for example, an automotive workshop, whose focus will be placed on the presentation of all EDI/Automotive functions by means of practical examples.

One highlight is the new Abas Container Management which signifies practiced resource management, namely a considerate handling of the valuable and scarce resource load carrier.

Another topic is the improved communication by connecting the external sales force.

By means of the external sales force connection of the Abas Business Software you can automate and accelerate the communication between the control centre and external sales force.

In the production area the function "Partial releases" will be presented among other things - this procedure results in numerous simplifications in the organisation of the work orders.

It will also be presented how Abas ERP supports the combined production and how this new function cooperates with scheduling and costing.

In the accounting area for example, innovations in financial accounting, materials valuation, cost accounting and fixed asset accounting will be presented.

The focus is also on technical oriented topics such as strategies to recognise and adjust hardware defects, print outputs which can be flexibly structured, graphical screen editor, XML based individual Online Help, efficient full text search, SQL interface, quality management and version policy of the Abas Software AG, and many more.

Abas welcomes Prof Dr Thomas Pleil from the University of Darmstadt as guest speaker.

In his lecture he will highlight the new ways of networking which will be provided by Web 2.0, which is currently being developed.

Its applications, the so called Social Software, support human communication, interaction and cooperation.

This also affects business communication: marketing and PR have to be prepared for entirely new options of opinion-forming in their target groups.

At the same time entirely new options of knowledge management are created.

Popular examples for Social Software are Weblogs, Wikis, Web forums, Internet portals such as OpenBC and special systems for tasks such as collecting photos, bookmarks or scientific publications.

The Abas Software AG partners present a wide spectrum of IT solutions which work efficiently with Abas ERP.

Included subjects are among others:.

* Mobile product configuration through CAP-Suite-Mobil or on the Internet.

* Implementation options of RFID technology.

* STAS CONTROL - the management cockpit for business controllers.

* Integrated Controlling - Abas ERP and CORPORATE PLANNER.

* CRM in medium-sized businesses.

* Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).

* Important differences in fixed asset accounting according to HGB and IFRS.

* STS Archiv, STS DMS and STS PLM for Abas ERP.

Many overseas Abas partners will also be represented at the Abas Customer Forum.
