The new AV1200 imaging system from Accu-Sort offers versatile, high speed reading or decoding of linear and 2D codes on flat work and cartons within a depth of field of 50mm.

One of the key benefits of this new introduction is its compact size.

Its 530mm x 290mm x 348mm housing contains both lighting and data capture systems which are factory set to ensure optimum performance without the need for fine-tuning on-site.

Unlike more unwieldy systems, this neat plug-in unit can be positioned at the side, on top or underneath the conveyor for maximum application flexibility.

The AV1200 reads omni-directionally and is capable of reading partially damaged and torn codes.

The system is also modular.

A number of units can therefore be stacked to increase the scanning field beyond 330mm.

In this way the customer has the option to grow scanning capability as needs arise rather than pay extra for an over specified system.

The predecessors of the AV1200 were developed specifically for the postal market and although this latest generation remains eminently suited to this type of work, it is also ideal for reading cartons.

This camera captures high quality, high resolution 200 dpi images in both grey and binarised form for OCR applications.

Image data is provided over a standard digital camera interface which ensures problem-free system integration.

Contd./ - The AV1200 can be configured to read and decode a range of bar code symbologies including PDF, Maxicode, QR code, Planet and PostNet at transport speeds of up to 2.3m/sec.

Notably, it is able to read bar code heights as small as 10mm.

The compact IP54 enclosure houses the camera, sealed optics compartment, precision mirror assembly, illumination, modem interface and high level diagnostics.

Also available with the system is a decode engine, based on standard PC architecture, such as Intel Pentium III.

The decode PC is supplied in an industrial enclosure or optionally as a desktop unit.

Not only is the AV1200 a viable alternative to laser systems from a cost point of view, this camera exceeds their scope of application too through its omni-directional and 2D code reading capability.

It is therefore excellent value-for-money, a factor which has led to an early, substantial order.

An OEM has just ordered 1600 units for sorting at various worldwide locations.
