Opening up to Europe with engineering

Norfolk precision engineering company, Acro Precision Technology, is hoping to turn back the tide and persuade European manufacturers that UK engineering can deliver what they need.
Over the past year Acro has invested heavily in a range of hi-tech production machinery that will enable them to compete on the world market.
With 24 hour unmanned machines, highly skilled production engineers and over 18 years of proven high quality work, European manufacturers will no longer need to look to the Far East for high volume components.
"We like to think that UK engineering is fighting back.
We know that we can produce the best quality.
It has just been a case of getting the latest machinery and the best expertise on board, so that we can provide the volumes and the pricing to compete on the world market," states Fred Pain, Manager of Acro.
"The new 24 hour unmanned machines mean that not only can we leave them running overnight but also all weekend.
This provides us with a massive boost to productivity - it has been an exciting step forward for us".
Acro provides CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machining facilities for a range of industries, including medical devices, transport, automotive, military/aerospace, and the energy sector.
Located as they are near Norwich, they have excellent transport links to mainland Europe and see this as a key direction for future expansion.
"We are feeling very ambitious.
We know we are good at what we do and we're sure that there will be companies here in the UK and in mainland Europe who will value our expertise and new facilities," added Fred.
In addition to the new machinery, Acro has re-launched its website to reflect its new market position and improved capabilities Acro has also taken on the services of a specialist marketing consultant to help establish the company in the wider European manufacturing sector.
Says Fred, "We've realised that having the expertise and capabilities is only the start, our job now is to make sure that design engineers and buyers across Europe understand what we can offer and how committed we are to providing the very best service".
