Now there is a self-clinching nut that can be installed in thin steel sheet down to 0.63mm and it can be mounted up to 40% closer to the edge of sheet metal than existing clinch nuts.

Self-clinching nut gets up to 40% closer in thin metal Now there is a PEM self-clinching nut, available from Arconix/UK, that can be installed in thin steel sheet down to 0.63mm and more important it can be mounted up to 40% closer to the edge of sheet metal compared with conventional clinch nuts.

The PEM nut, type SMPS has been designed with a smaller diameter and a lower profile, which provides significant benefits over conventional clinch nuts in close-to-the-edge locations.

Because the fasteners are manufactured from 300 series stainless steel, they ensure the highest performance security without any worries of torque-out or pullout.

Even in restricted locations installation is very simple, as the PEM SMPS fasteners can be installed into a punched or drilled hole, using any standard press.

The major benefits of the fastener are tighter and more predictable design controls, together with more flexible assembly in restricted spaces and a reduction in loose hardware.

The fasteners are available in thread sizes M2.5 through to M3.5.
