Machine tool CNC needs no experience to use
Believed to be one of the most user-friendly CNC systems available, machine tool control features a conversational system that requires no CNC experience and can be used as a DRO or a CNC.
User-frendly functionality features control units
Machine tool control systems, encoders and 1-6 axis digital read out systems will satisfy most metal cutting needs, says a MACH 2004 exhibitor.
Cameron Paterson of Datum Scotland said "We can give customers greater capacity combined with far greater control by installing the Acu-Rite Millpwr 3 on a bed mill.
Users have the advantage of a larger, more robust machine so can take bigger cuts and/or handle larger workpieces whilst obtaining consistent accuracy.
The greater ram movement in the spindle is particularly an advantage to companies working on taller jobs.
The counter on the fourth axes is also a great advantage on a bed mill because of the independent movement of the quill.
Very powerful servo motors are fitted on all the axes so the machines have the capability for heavy stock removal".
The principle advantage of the Acu-Rite Millpwr 3, according to Paterson, is the accuracy which can be achieved.
Linear glass scale encoders with 0.002mm resolution on all axes ensure the consistent positional accuracy and long term reliability less readily obtained with rotary encoders.
Dramatic increases in productivity are found using the Acu-Rite Millpwr 3.
Easy to programme using plain English commands on the shop floor, the new Acu-Rite Millpwr 3 accepts CAD/CAM data as well as DXF files.
Canned cycles include an ellipse and a helix among many others.
Alphanumeric references can be engraved on a vertical, horizontal or diagonal line or an arc.
The skew feature enables a workpiece to be set up without aligning it parallel along the X and Y axes.
Tool offset is compensated for automatically whilst machining, allowing the operator to programme the part rather than the tool path.
A teach function is available.
The user has the choice to control one, two or three axes on the shop floor, according to the job being undertaken, allowing the best production route for a job to be selected.
