Advanced Carbide Tooling has introduced Futura-coated carbide inserts for its 2.2 parting-off and grooving system, allowing dry machining as well as higher cutting speeds.

Advanced Carbide Tooling has introduced Futura-coated carbide inserts for its 2.2 parting-off and grooving system, allowing dry machining as well as higher cutting speeds with longer tool life.

Futura is a multi-layer PVD coating system originally developed by Balzers to improve the performance of milling cutters.

The multi-layer structure is extremely tough and has excellent thermal and chemical stability, enabling inserts to cope with interrupted cutting.

The longer insert life provided by the coating reduces manufacturing costs and increases productivity.

Coolant can be used if required.

The Futura-coated inserts are available in NAC, NBC and NCC geometries.

These insert types continue to be also available in uncoated carbide.
