Film and sheet handling is set to be revolutionised, thanks to a new static control system called PeforMAX3 exclusively distributed in the UK by Advanced Dynamics The new PerforMAX 3 is the most advanced static control system available for monitoring static neutralising performance

PerforMAX 3 provides outstanding extended range performance to eliminate static charges even when installed up to 250mm from webs (depending on conditions), and up to 500mm on winders.

This system is also capable of neutralizing charged materials travelling up to 2,500 feet per minute, and faster depending on conditions.

PerforMAX 3 is suitable for a wide range of applications, including film rolls, plastic sheets, paper, printing plates, rubber covered conveyor belts, packaging machines, web systems and numerous other related applications.

Key features include rugged bar construction with precise emitter spacing for maximum performance, along with detachable cable and daisy chain (bar-to-bar connection) capability.

A bar graph display indicates the system is neutralising the charged material, and indicator lights display the status of the system, including when the static bar requires cleaning or if there is a fault.

Current-limited emitter point design will not cause shocks to the machine operator if the points are touched when the static bar is on.

An LCD screen indicates when there is a charge, the performance of the bars and if there is a problem from dirty contacts.

The fault indicator automatically alerts in the event of a faulty hard arc, cable damage, bar damage or power supply failure, which all trigger the device to shutdown.

Performance of the PerforMAX 3 is way in advance of current comparable equipment, which enables it to deliver high efficiency at both close and long range outputs, plus in addition better neutralisation of small targets with both +/- charges.

Equipped with long life Hastalloy pins, PerforMAX 3 is available with a plug-in wall converter, remote on/off capability and a simple one piece connecting cable.

Other features include the ability to PLC connect the equipment to other machines, or to a computer for monitoring and or data logging.

This latter feature should be particularly helpful in more litigious industries, where without accurate historical monitoring records insurance premiums can be prohibitive.

Suitable for use in both hazardous and non-hazardous conditions, it is CE approved, UL listed and US rated as a Class I, Division 1, Group D approved.

For those with a more limited investment budget, Advanced Dynamics recommends the Type A2A4 BHR high voltage generator, which can be used with a choice of Simco anti-static bars.

These include the low cost MEB single bar, the more heavy duty Super Service anti static bar and the longer range EP-Sh-N which can operate at distances up to 150mm.

For very fast moving webs, Advanced Dynamics recommends the P-Sh-N-2 which needs a type LB.

Advanced Dynamics' director, Mike Essler says: "PerforMAX 3 is a technology breakthrough and should provide significant cost savings via reduced production time, for those involved in film and sheet handling".

"The UK launch of PerforMAX 3, provides an excellent opportunity for companies to review the cleaning technology being used.".
