Spanish machine tool firms court Russia,
Brazil
A number of Spanish machine tool builders are increasing activities in Brazil and Russia, where recent trade fairs there are generating new business.
During May, 2007, the eleventh Feria Internacional de Maquinas- Ferramenta e Sistemas Integrados de Manufactura (FEIMAFE), was held in Sao Paulo (Brazil), and the Spanish participation was one of the largest groups in the fair The Spanish Machine Tool Association (AFM) has coordinated the Spanish representation with the support of the ICEX

The exhibitors were positive about FEIMAFE and were satisfied with their results.
Brazil occupied the tenth position for Spanish exports in 2006.
AFM said that the Brazilian market continues to require machine tools for autoparts, automotive, aeronautics and construction industries.
Brazil, in spite of the high taxes and difficulties for financing, is a country that offers opportunities to those companies capable of offering machines with a higher level of technology than offered by its own domestic manufacturers.
Likewise, the 7th edition of the MASHEX trade fair, organised by MVK International Exhibition Company, held from May 29-June 1, 2007, in the new Crocus Expo exhibition site in Moscow also received positive enthusiasm from Spanish machine tool builders.
The Spanish group - comprising nine companies - occupied an area of 259.5m2.
The companies were: Agme, Atera, Autopulit, Danobat, Geka, GNC Nicolas Correa Anayak, Puigjaner, Sierras Sabi and AFM.
It must be stressed that Russia is, together with Turkey, one of the most important markets in non European Community Europe for Spanish machine tool exports, said AFM.
In 2006, sales to the Russian market have risen 12% with respect to 2005.
