Free half-day seminars, covering the very latest developments and hot topics in high-speed milling; high-performance milling and 5-axis milling will be held in the UK over a few months.

Market-leading EDM and HSM/5-axis machine tool specialist - AgieCharmilles - has released date and venue details for its advanced milling technologies technical seminar programme The free half-day seminars, covering the very latest developments and hot topics in high-speed milling (HSM); high-performance milling (HPM) and 5-axis milling - are being hosted at a number of regional venues across the UK over the next few months

The seminars, delivered by Mikron product specialist, Steve Burrows, are aimed at UK precision engineering companies (OEMs, First/Second Tier suppliers and subcontractors) operating in highly-competitive global sectors and markets - aerospace, medical, power generation, oil/gas, motor sport etc - and are intended to demonstrate the significant commercial and technical benefits that can be achieved by embracing these advanced milling technologies.

Said Burrows: "There is a plethora of information in the marketplace about the latest developments in milling.

Unfortunately some of this information is both inaccessible and misleading - and in some instances it is totally wrong." He continued: "Our seminars are in-depth, practical and are intended to put the record straight.

The focus is to explain and quantify the benefits of, and pinpoint the differences between, HSM and HPM and 5-axis machining - and to highlight the type of applications best suited for each of these technologies." Burrows added: "Irrespective of whether your manufacturing goals today (and tomorrow) are to further improve part accuracies; achieve superior surface finishes, reduce time spent on job setups; reduce part cycle times; achieve greater process reliability - you will find that our seminars will help you 'see the wood from the trees'.".
