'Optimising EDM Performance' UK Technology Days are aimed at EDM users (toolmakers, precision engineers, etc) who are looking to improve the performance of their existing EDM machines.

Market-leading EDM and HSM/5-axis machining specialist - AgieCharmilles GF - has organised two Technology Demonstration Days (September 13-14) to be held at the company's state-of-the-art facility in Coventry, UK These Technology Days - titled 'Optimising EDM Performance' - are aimed at EDM users (toolmakers, precision engineers etc) who are looking to improve the performance of their existing EDM machines as a route to increasing their competitiveness

The Technology Days are practical and informative.

They are being run by AgieCharmilles' team of expert applications engineers who will be demonstrating how to improve and optimise the performance of both Agie and Charmilles EDM machines.

Specific topics to be covered will include the following.

* Reducing time spent on job setups (to just 1 minute for certain applications) using System 3R's integrated workholding and software solutions.

* Improving part accuracy, surface finishes and removal rates (by up to 500%) in spark erosion applications by using graphite electrodes instead of copper electrodes.

* Achieving higher removal rates and improved accuracy in WEDM applications through using high-performance coated wires instead of brass wire.

Said Martin Spencer, general manager - Customer Services at AgieCharmilles: "I am confident that our Technology Demonstration Days will be real 'eye-openers' for many EDM professionals".

"At a time when every UK precision engineering company is trying to squeeze more and more from their existing machine tools - we will demonstrate the significant EDM productivity and performance gains that can be achieved - simply and cost effectively." Companies and individuals interested in attending either of the Technology Demonstration Days in September should contact Nicola Torkington at AgieCharmilles.
