Enterprise Integration Platform (EIP) enables efficient integration of Agile PLM applications into service-oriented architectures

Agile Software Corporation, a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, has extended the functionality of its Enterprise Integration Platform (EIP) for Agile PLM With EIP, Agile developed a flexible integration platform for its own PLM solutions that uses open industry standards such as SOAP, XML, BPEL and Web Services

This enables organisations to integrate PLM software from Agile into service-oriented architectures (SOA) or ERP applications, e.g from SAP and Oracle.

"The integration capability is a key selection criteria for the PLM software," explains Andre Guldi, Product Manager at Agile Software.

"In addition, we have enhanced our Agile integration platform with process control functions at the data exchange level in order to solve even complex integration tasks." In the new version of the Enterprise Integration Platform, customers can make use of Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) to model their processes.

The integrated Business Process Management solution covers complex transfer scenarios and enables the transformation and exchange of records or documents between applications.

A new feature is the Business Process Viewer, which provides a clearly structured graphical view of the processes that have been defined in BPEL.

This provides the responsible process managers with a quick overview of the defined business processes.

Customers benefit from the many integration options of the new Enterprise Integration Platform.

Agile PLM Solutions are now even more efficient and cost effective to integrate into existing application environments based on Web Services.

Numerous technology adapters are also available for the integration with legacy applications, eg database, mail and XML adapters.

"We are very satisfied with the Agile Enterprise Integration Platform," reports Wolfgang Kartmann, AutomationandDrives (AandD), Siemens AG.

"This enabled us to link our central Agile PLM solution with three SAP systems".

"We are now working on the integration of seven more SAP installations," he added.

"We were particularly convinced by the reliability and performance of EIP.

Moreover, we were able to reduce the effort for interface support in the AutomationandDrives Group by 80 per cent.".
