The new advanced system, which will be implemented gradually in four stages, will enable Taylor's to gain more control over its warehousing and distribution operations, leading to the complete automation of all warehousing activities.
Expected to be fully operational by mid-2007, the system will also integrate with Taylor's existing software to assist in the operation of production equipment, including a large coffee roaster.
Taylors of Harrogate is one of the largest family tea and coffee merchants in the UK.
Employing a strong team of distribution, logistics and warehousing staff, the company buys, blends, manufactures, sells and distributes its own range of ethically sourced teas and coffees and is also responsible for blending and packing the popular Yorkshire Tea brand.
Agility Systems specialises in ERP systems integration and has extensive knowledge of warehouse efficiency, logistics and Information management.
Established in 1995, the firm implements these solutions to a wide range of clients all over the world.
It also supplies warehouse optimisation solutions, efficiency monitoring and full transaction controls.
Agility also specialises in supply chain execution over multiple ERP systems including Infor 21, which is used by Taylor's, as well as JD Edwards and BPCS.
Kevin McDaid, managing director of Agility Systems, said: "The new system will help Taylor's manage the vast amount of traceability data, enable higher efficiencies in the work force and provide improved data accuracy, all of which will benefit the day-to-day operations of their busy Harrogate plant".
Austin Brunt, Assistant IT Manager for Taylor's of Harrogate, added: "The implementation will undoubtedly improve the efficiency of our warehouse operations, which will be particularly useful during our busy seasonal periods".
"Once rolled out, Agility's solution will also improve the speed at which we can track our products from plantation to customer".
