Employers have a duty to "so far as is reasonably practical, avoid the need for employees to undertake any manual handling operations at work which involve a risk to their being injured." According to the Health and Safety Executive, musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) is the most common occupational illness affecting 1.1 million people every year in Great Britain alone.
The numerous disorders that fall under the MSD umbrella include problems such as low back pain, joint injuries and repetitive strain injuries of various sorts.

The most recent figures show that MSDs cost society GBP 5.7 billion annually.
The most frustrating fact of all is that many cases of MSD caused by occuaptional hazards can be avoided, which is why products such as Lift 'n' Tilt are critical in ensuring the health of company staff while at the same time maximising employee output.
The four models in the Lift 'n' Tilt range offer lifting capacities of 250, 500, 1000 and 1500kg.
The two smaller versions have a lifting table area of 1250mm long by 800mm wide (approximately 49.25in x 31.5in), while the two larger models have a full 1000mm width (approximately 39.25in).
Low profile models for floor or recessed pit mounting can be supplied, together with free standing (or base frame mounted) versions suitable for stacker truck or forklift loading.
Depending upon the model, the tilt height from the floor can be 360 or 500mm (approx 14in to 19.5in), with a tilt angle of the table available up to a maximum of 33 deg.
All tables are also fitted with stop frames to prevent slippage of loads while the table is tilted.
Only a standard compressed air supply is required for inflation of the airbags, and the elimination of hydraulic/electric controls and motors ensures that these products are ideally suited for location in hazardous areas or 'contamination free' environments.
All units are fitted with safety devices to instantly stop movement if an obstacle interupts descent, with the table also then automatically elevating slightly to allow release of the object.
In the unlikely event of a burst pneumatic pipe, the table is also held at its current height until the pipe is replaced.
The units comply to EN1570 safety demands and are issued with a CE certificate of conformity.
The company invite inquiries from organisations interested in joining an international network of agents/distributors for their range of handling products, with full details of equipment available on its website.
