Mobile unit inspects components on site
A photogrammetric measuring system conducts mobile and non-contact inspections of shape and positional tolerances and makes CAD comparisons.
One of the highlights of AICON 3D Systems at this year's EuroBLECH 2006 was the DPAInspect, a photogrammetric measuring system to conduct mobile and non-contact inspections of arbitrary components Carl-Thomas Schneider, president of AICON, explains: "DPAInspect allows for an especially fast check of both shape and positional tolerances and CAD comparisons as it offers the possibility of onsite inspection"

Tube measured optically in series production
Optical 3D tube inspection system allows for high-precision measurement of tube geometries, determines set-up and correction data and transmits them to bending machines.
Dynamic 3D measurements with high speed camera
AICON 3D Systems has developed TraceCam F, a high-speed camera that allows for 3D recording of highly dynamic processes with a practically infinite recording time.
"Thus time-consuming transportations to CMMs and interruptions of production lines are no longer necessary.
Moreover corrections of observed inaccuracies in production can be carried out immediately.
A real plus." DPAInspect works with a high resolution digital camera as acquisition device.

3D measurement panel displays data
3D measurement software is a powerful control panel for various measuring tasks and can be seamlessly integrated into any customer specific measuring system.
With this camera, the object to be measured is captured from different viewing directions.
The free-held camera offers an unsurpassed flexibility, which especially pays-off in a narrow environment or hazardous areas.
All features of the component relevant to the inspection are signalized in a very easy way before the pictures are taken: AICON's DPAInspect bundle includes a series of adapters being applied for this purpose.
On the one hand there are special adapters to signalize the reference points; on the other hand the package includes brand new adapters shaped like a cube.
These adapters developed by AICON serve as signalization of bore holes, edges etc Trim lines, punch holes etc are measured by the system without additional signalization.
The 3D coordinates that are automatically created after the shot are in turn passed to the attached measuring software fully automated.
Then the data are compared to the CAD data either automatically by the system or manually.
Finally an expressive measurement report is created.
Big advantage of DPAInspect: In order to realise the automated measuring processes from the acquisition of the point to the generation of the report, DPAInspect makes use of wide-spread measurement software packages such as PolyWorks, RapidForm, Metrolog and Metromec.
The DPAInspect package is delivered with the digital camera Nikon D2Xs with WLAN connection and a resolution of 4288 x 2848 pixels.
Additionally the bundle includes scale bars, coded and standard targets and the necessary adapters.
