DPAInspect highlights fixture deviations

An AICON 3D Systems product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Oct 24, 2008

Aicon's 3D optical measuring system DPAInspect measures fixtures so deviations to their nominal geometries can be immediately detected and corrected.

DPAInspect uses a digital camera for data collection, making the system light-weight and portable.

This means the user can easily measure fixtures at any location in little time.

The new adapters allow the geometry elements for alignment to be measured with high precision (length accuracy of DPAInspect according to VDI 2634 is +/-0.015mm/m).

The user places self-adhesive stickers on the fixture to signal the contact surfaces.

The alignment points are signalled with Aicon's standard cube-shaped adapters.

After this preparation, the user needs to photograph the fixture from different angles with the DPAInspect camera.

Measurement software packages such as Polyworks/Inspector, Geomagic or Rapidform integrate DPAInspect as a plug-in.

The 3D measuring data collected with the DPAInspect camera is transferred to the available measurement software for analysing, for example to be compared with CAD data.

The DPAInspect package is shipped with the digital camera Nikon D3 with WLAN connection and a resolution of 12 mega pixels.

It also includes calibrated reference scale bars as well as the specific application's adapter and sticker range.
