Altium Japan KK, a subsidiary of Altium a developer of Windows-based electronics design software, has announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Memec Japan.

Altium Japan KK, a subsidiary of Altium a developer of Windows-based electronics design software, has announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Memec Japan Under the terms of the agreement, Altium has authorized Memec Japan to resell its complete board-level design solution, Protel, and its recently-released board-on-chip development system, Nexar

Launched in February 2004, Nexar is a complete development environment that enables engineers to interactively build, test and implement digital systems, including entire processor-based systems, on reprogrammable platforms (FPGAs).

Nexar is unique in that unlike any existing FPGA-based development system it includes all the tools required 'in-the-box', provides developers with true design portability and enables a LiveDesign approach to electronics systems development.

Memec Japan will also resell a number of Altium's other brands throughout Japan including Tasking, nVisage, CAMtastic, and CircuitStudio.

"Memec Japan has proven experience providing value to their customers through their engineering expertise, active engineering support, and customized design solutions," said Toshihiro Tada, Director of Altium Japan KK.

"By adding our design systems to its product line-up, Memec Japan will now be able to offer its customers a revolutionary FPGA design solution that makes developing complete system-level applications on a programmable platform accessible to mainstream engineers for the first time." "The addition of Altium as a solution partner was based on its leadership in embedded CPUs for the FPGA market," said Chris Norman, President, Memec Japan KK.

"In today's market, more and more functionality is being embedded into FPGAs and the fact that Altium's product offering is complimentary and synergistic with our Xilinx FPGA offering allows us to further consolidate our ability to offer our customers a more complete solution to FPGA design.".
