Combination scale suits fixed weights, prices
Latest version of a highly successful manual combination scale has been designed for fixed weight, fixed price, fixed or variable count retail packs of steaks, chops, fillets, legs, ribs and so on.
Scales operate in positive or negative modes
To produce more accurate, faster, user friendly and flexible on line manual weighing systems, a scale can operate as a positive 'Under Accept Over' checkweigher or a negative 'TakeAweigh' scale.
Give away after only a few weeks is now running at between one per cent and three per cent.
The company, suppliers to major retailers has increasingly struggled in recent years to get its give away on retail packs of chicken portions under control.
Its old linear graders, backed up by manual weighing, were simply not precise enough with give away running at six per cent to eight per cent on fillets and more on dark meat.
After successfully running a factory trial with the Aja Optima multihead weigher, the company has now installed four machines, along with a complete new conveyor feeding and packing system supplied by Aja's project partners, Wrightfield.
Multihead weighing has been proven time and again to be the most effective method of fixed weight weighing of fresh poultry and meat, believes Aja.
Guaranteeing the best combination of portions to the best weight from any given population of fillets, legs or thighs, with 14 or 16 weigh heads there are 14 or 16 different weights to choose from in real time, as opposed to linear graders, which only have one weigh head and rely on making an estimate to find the best combinations, said Aja.
At the same time the company moved to C wrap with Bixzerba and Herma labellers.
The whole system was fully up and running over two weekends.
Besides a few teething problems the company's engineering manager is delighted with the whole project and has been and particularly impressed with Aja's guidance and management of the project, said Aja.
