Advanced Labelling Systems (ALS) enjoyed three successful days of exhibiting at this year's PPMA show, beginning with an opening-day order for an ALS 600 high-speed, mainline labelling machine The on-the-spot purchase sparked what was to be an extraordinary exhibition for one of Europe's leading labelling innovators

Phil Donaldson, Sales and Marketing Director at ALS, admitted that the order was an excellent way for the Oxfordshire-based firm to start the process and packaging showcase.

"We couldn't't have started our three days in Birmingham in a better way.

The ALS 600 order was a dream start and set a precedent for the rest of the show.

The whole exercise was an enormous success." The ALS 600 high-speed mainline labelling machine, which is capable of labelling up to 200 products a minute and ensuring label placement accuracy within +/-1mm, was ordered by Hydrogarden Wholesale Supplies Ltd of Coventry.

Ideal for the company's busy production lines, the ALS 600 features Automatic Product Speed Following (APSF) and is able to support a range of product-handling modules and print and apply labelling heads.

For Hydrogarden, the ALS 600 represents a flexible, labelling solution that will enable the company to develop a fully automated production process for its horticultural and hydroponic products.

"We've started to automate our process so that we can increase turnaround and improve the quality of our labelling even further," Iain Reynolds, Managing Director at Hydrogarden, noted.

"The ALS 600 is extremely flexible and can cope with different sizes and types of bottles - which is exactly what we were looking for." Featuring two ALS 330 label-dispensing heads, the ALS 600 system will provide Hydrogarden with absolute control over its labelling requirements.

This is possible because the ALS 600 is able to identify transparent labels, end of label rolls and missing labels, and provide front, back and wraparound functionality, making it extremely flexible and suitable for a variety of high-volume product labelling applications.
