The Proton Vendors Association International Conference will be held alongside MTA Malaysia 2006 machine tool, precision engineering and metalworking technology exhibition.

The long anticipated Proton Vendors Association (PVA) International Conference will be held alongside MTA Malaysia 2006 the ASEAN regions most important machine tool, precision engineering and metalworking technology exhibition announced Allworld Exhibitions, organizer of the five leading manufacturing technology exhibitions in the region The conference will bring the region's widespread automotive industry together to review existing policies and actions intended to propel the industry forward

The conference will take place from 2-4 May 2006 at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia while MTA Malaysia 2006 exhibition will be held from 3 to 7 May 2006 at the same venue.

Themed 'Automotive Manufacturing: Challenges and Opportunities Ahead', PVA's International Conference will examine the opportunities and challenges for the regions automotive players to collaborate and improve their industrial linkages as part of a concerted effort to make SE Asia the production and procurement hub for the world wide automotive market place.

The conference has top level Government support and will be officiated by Y B Senator Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Minister of Finance II, Malaysia.

"As the most important metalworking event serving SE Asias automotive industry, the MTA series of exhibitions and particularly this years MTA Malaysia is the ideal host for our association's international conference" said Dr Wan Mohamed WE, President of the PVA.

He continued, "The conference has already secured an excellent line up of speakers including Tuan Syed Zainal Abidin SM Tahir, Managing Director of Proton Holdings Bhd and Dr Dilip Cheoy, Director General of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers and I am certain the delegates will benefit from the presentations and discussions during the conference." Over 300 attendees representing policy makers, component manufacturers, parts and components manufacturers, financial institutions as well as design, testing and accreditation bodies are expected to be at the conference, with a further 630 companies from 33 countries, including an official government pavilions sponsored by UKTandI, the Engineering Industries Association (EIA) and the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), exhibiting at the show.

The keynote address by Proton Holdings will present an overview of the global auto industry and the company's plans to meet the challenges.

Delegates will get keen insights into the company's strategies, business model, expectations from vendors and how it will rise to face the challenges ahead.

"This is the first time the Proton Vendors community and MTA Malaysia have worked together to organise a high-powered conference that will serve the knowledge exchange needs of the regional automotive players.

It is going to be three solid days of discussions and networking, and is certainly an event not to be missed for the industry's stakeholders," said Andrew Todd, spokesperson for the organiser Allworld Exhibition.
