Anca founders and directors presented a TX7+ high precision CNC grinder to customer OSG Corporation in a ceremony at Anca's Bayswater, Victoria plant on 24 October

Australian CNC grinder manufacturer, Anca, has delivered its 2000th machine Anca founders and directors, Pat Boland and Pat McCluskey, presented the TX7+ high precision CNC grinder to customer OSG Corporation in a ceremony at Anca's Bayswater, Victoria plant on 24 October

The significant milestone was achieved after only 20 years of manufacturing, with the second thousand machines being delivered over only six years.

This figure highlights Anca's greater-than-exponential growth that has resulting in ever-increasing production levels.

OSG Executive Director Mr Norio Yamazaki, and Group Manager - Design Centre Engineering and Development Mr Jiro Osawa, accepted delivery of the TX7+ in a traditional Japanese ribbon-cutting ceremony before assembled guests and more than 200 Anca staff.

As OSG is one of the largest manufacturers of cutting tools in Japan, Anca Director and Group General Manager Linsey Siede was thrilled with OSG's participation in the ceremony.

"Anca is extremely honoured that Mr Yamasaki and Mr Osawa, were able to make the long trip to Australia to accept this 2000th machine in person from the proud owners of Anca, Mr Pat Boland and Mr Pat McCluskey".

"This is a very special occasion for Anca, and we are delighted to be able to share it with such a well known and respected company as OSG", he said.

Among the assembled guests were keynote speaker Mr Joe Helper MP, Parliamentary Secretary for the Department of Innovation and Industry; Ms Dympna Beard MP, State Member for Kilsyth; Mr Tony Smith, Federal Member for Casey and Mr Hayden Williams from Austrade.

In a message delivered by Ms Beard, the Premier of Victoria Mr Steve Bracks MP paid tribute to Anca.

"Anca is a great Victorian success story in manufacturing, and is a wonderful example of Victorian innovation and hard work", he said.

"The story of two mates in a garage working together to create a business which has exported $500 million worth of machines in the last five years is something to be proud of".

Siede points out that Anca's journey thus far has not been all smooth sailing.

"In today's bustling environment, remaining globally competitive has not been a simple or straight-forward task, particularly with the majority of the machine tool industry being in the Northern Hemisphere, and 98% of Anca customers being located outside Australia".

"Anca has addressed these challenges in numerous ways, but always with a primary focus of developing "in-house" world-class expertise, to design, build, sell, service and support an innovative, technologically advanced, leading edge product range, that is driven by customer demand".

"Along the journey to reach this milestone, Anca has received help and support from many different groups including a number of key suppliers, state and federal governments including Austrade offices in a variety of countries, our valued customers from around the world, and of course the dedicated and talented members of the Anca global team".

Having recently won the Victorian Exporter of the Year, Anca is automatically entered in the Australian Exporter of the Year Awards, and Austrade's Hayden Williams and Vibeke Stisen from Australian Made joined the occasion and presented Anca with a certificate to mark their status as 2006 finalists.

The ceremony concluded with the traditional exchange of gifts between OSG, Anca and Anca's Japanese agent CKB Corporation, represented by their President, Mr Tetsuzo Fujita.
