Extruding circular engineering polymer
mouldings
A specialist engineering plastics processor is producing engineering polymer circular extrusions, of between 600mm and 1200mm diameter with wall thickness up to 25mm x 19 mm.
Robix, the specialist engineering plastics processor, has developed a manufacturing technique to enable them to produce Victrex Peek polymer circular extrusions, of between 600mm and 1200mm diameter with wall thickness up to 25mm x 19 mm, from existing tooling Building on the proprietary Robix production technology, this unique system is capable of producing up to 3m diameter extrusions with even larger cross sections

PEEK polymer selected for the stretch rod tips
Aoki Technical Laboratory, Japan's dedicated manufacturer of injection stretch blow moulding machines, is adding of PEEK polymer to their moulding machine's stretch rod tips.
Polymer protects automotive data carriers
Glass fibre-reinforced Victrex PEEK polymer has been selected for the casing on a range of data carriers to provide mechanical properties at high temperatures and consistent ease of processing.
The product is produced as a continuous 'spiral' and sections are then cut and joined to complete the circle by melt bonding.
The joint integrity of the completed 'circle' has been verified by X-Ray photography.
The product can then be shipped to end users for finish machining.
The process has been used successfully with all standard viscosity Victrex Peek polymer grades (filled and unfilled) and can be used for short or long production runs.
Other engineering polymers may also be extruded by this method.
This new production technique offers flexibility which was hitherto unavailable; previous solutions would have been to machine parts from large section billets, or stock-shape tubes, with high material wastage and machining costs.
Victrex, which has its sales, technical and production headquarters at Thornton Cleveleys in Lancashire, UK, had a turnover of more than GBP 72m in the last financial year.
The company exports 97 percent of its Peek polymer output to OEMs in the automotive, industrial, medical, food and electronics market sectors in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
