Weighing only 36,5kg, a lightweight drawn-arc studwelder generates up to 1200A and is able to weld 5/8in (16mm) studs While most other draw-arc stud welder designs still use conventional linear power design technology, said Arcon Welding, US, its Studhorse 1200 uses a power supply based on inverters

The Studhorse can be powered from a 40A utility breaker at 480V, three-phase or from a 30A time delay fuse.

The unit offers steplessly variable output current to cover a wide range of stud sizes.

Unit size is 495mm long by 455mm high by 105mm wide.

The power cord weighs 0.22kg/m.

A lighter power cable and a much lighter machine will make more stud welding applications possible, said Arcon.
