Scheduling software ideal for CFD tasks

An Applied Computing and Engineering product story

As AC+E's customers add Linux clusters to their computing environments, any problems in scheduling throughput should be solved by Altair Engineering's PBS Pro.

Simulation technology specialist Applied Computing and Engineering has signed a distribution agreement with Altair Engineering to provide its simulation customers with Altair's advanced scheduling software, PBS Pro.

Altair has been looking to strengthen its distribution channel in the UK and believes that this partnership will be ideal for CFD and related simulation users.

PBS Pro allows organisations to better utilise their hardware and software investments by intelligently queuing and scheduling computational workload across networks of Linux, Unix and Microsoft Windows servers and workstations.

AC and E's own technical assessment reveals PBS Pro to be one of the best and most effective programs of its type on the market following a thorough internal programme of testing in-house on their own clusters.

"We are very pleased with PBS Pro and the relationship we have begun with Altair " said Yash Khandhia, AC and E's Technical Director, "As our customers add Linux clusters to their computing environments they face new problems in scheduling throughput and PBS Pro is an ideal tool to achieve an efficient result.

Our extensive testing show it is very effective, and the support provided by Altair is also excellent.

We are confident our clients will be quick to take advantage of this software as they inevitably expand their hardware platforms.

Altair's Julian Lomberg commented: "We are delighted Applied Computing and Engineering have agreed to distribute PBS Pro in the UK to their analysis/simulation customers.

They have earned a reputation for delivering high quality solutions, and are involved with all the UK's major CFD users, providing specialist post-processing software as well as consultancy services and matched hardware configurations.

These customers will soon see a very positive payback for the relatively small investment in PBS Pro".
