OES software integrates with PLC, PLM and ERP
Updated SOA/BPM functionality of FlexNet 9.4, features better performance, enhanced user-interface and wider integration with PLC, PLM and ERP to support real-time operations monitoring.
The Apriso FlexNet will complement Amcor's existing SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Implementation will initially span more than 20 locations to improve operations performance by providing global visibility to the firm's production environment and supply chain network.
Beyond just a manufacturing execution system (MES), Apriso said its FlexNet will enable widespread unification of all operations execution systems (OES), creating an adaptive operations platform spanning multiple, distributed locations.

Software captures data for global view
Using off-line software, a glass container maker can get a global picture in terms of how processes perform over time, and it is easier to spot large performance trends and unusual patterns.
Amcor Flexibles, a division of US$11 billion Amcor having operations spanning 34 countries, deploys SAP ERP to track financial performance and implement global planning as a 'single source of the truth' across multiple products and geographic markets.
The challenge, said Apriso to manufacturingtalk.com, will be to collect and integrate complex, high volume operations data from the factory floor into ERP, while providing sufficient flexibility to respond to market changes and supplier volatility, down to the plant level.
Chief information officer of Amcor Flexibles, Bruno Hartemann, said: "Based on the success we have experienced with Apriso at the Amcor PET division, we believe it was a low risk decision to select FlexNet for our Flexibles business to address data collection, business process integration and global visibility challenges.
It was also key for us to select a global partner able to help us on an international basis.
By expanding our Apriso footprint, we expect to continue to improve our responsiveness to customer needs, while cost effectively enforcing and distributing global best practices".
As a current Apriso customer, Amcor PET (Polyethylene Triphthalate) division currently has continuous operations availability - even when their ERP system is unavailable or requires periodic maintenance.
This ability for operations to continue uninterrupted, while capturing all the data necessary for future systems synchronization, has been a tremendous productivity enhancement.
President and chief executive officer of Apriso, Jim Henderson, explained "Our goal is to be much more than just a software provider, but rather, a strategic technology partner and trusted advisor that works with our customers to enable continued improvement of operations performance and adaptability.
The continued expansion of Apriso's software at Amcor is market validation we are in alignment with our customer's needs".
Amcor Flexibles is planning to use the Apriso 'Core' implementation program with their deployment strategy.
This novel approach will help identify all consistent business processes performed at each factory location.
These processes will be defined as their 'Core' system within a 'Center of Excellence', representing a collection of best practices.
These standardised business processes and key performance measurements (KPIs) will be packaged and distributed enterprise wide, yet remain sufficiently flexible to accommodate future updates, as often as needed.
