Latest cost management software previewed
The aPriori company has previewed its aPriori v6.0 product cost management platform includes expanded capabilities including the support for additional 3D CAD systems and industry standards.
The aPriori company previewed its next release of its product cost management software solution at COE 2008, the Dassault Systems' annual user conference.
With support for additional 3D CAD systems and industry standards, aPriori v6 will help more manufacturing and product companies drive costs out of their products using aPriori's real-time product cost assessments.
The aPriori v6 will feature support for leading 3D CAD applications with new integration to CATIA v5, NX (Unigraphics), SolidWorks and more.
Combined with existing integration to Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire and enhanced support for industry standards including STEP and IGES, aPriori will significantly extend its ability to cost parts and products automatically and instantly from solid models.
Founder and chief technology officer at aPriori, Eric Hiller, said: "aPriori v6 will serve the broad market of discrete product and manufacturing companies to reduce the cost of their products, regardless of which CAD system they use for design".
He continued: "When employees know the cost impact of every alternative they are considering, they make decisions that result in greater profit by lowering product costs.
aPriori helps every business function that impacts product cost, from design, to manufacturing, to sourcing and more".
Hiller emphasised: "Moreover, by having cost visibility early and throughout the development cycle, our customers reduce cost without compromising on quality, schedule, or the content of their products".
* Real-time, predictive and precise product cost assessments - the aPriori Enterprise Cost Management Platform is claimed to be the first software to provide discrete manufacturers and product companies with real-time, predictive and precise product cost assessments throughout the entire development and production process.
aPriori's revolutionary cost management capabilities empower organisations to identify quantifiable savings in material, tooling, labor and overhead while evaluating alternative designs, processes and sources.
By generating cost assessments early in the product development process, aPriori customers drive significant costs out of their products prior to production, said the company to manufacturingtalk, reducing cost of goods sold by whole percentage points and improving the overall financial results of the company.
* Precise cost assessments - through an innovative, patented understanding of how product design, materials and manufacturing processes translate into product costs, aPriori replaces traditional, inefficient cost-estimation techniques with precise cost assessments that update in real-time as parameters change.
aPriori provides true cost visibility to everyone in the organization that impacts cost, including designers, manufacturing engineers and planners, purchasing and sourcing professionals, cost managers, program management and executives.
aPriori v6 is expected to be available in summer 2008.
* About aPriori - the aPriori Enterprise Cost Management software platform improves the financial results of discrete manufacturing and product companies by enabling them to actively control Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) with real-time, predictive and precise product cost assessments.
aPriori's proven and patent-protected software platform allows companies to assess, control and reduce the cost of their products in real time, at any time during design, sourcing and manufacture.
This enables companies to understand the cost impact of product design decisions earlier than ever before, reduce their Cost of Goods Sold, and improve operating margins.
The aPriori platform is rapidly deployable across the extended enterprise, up and running in a matter of weeks generating cost assessments reflecting a customer's factories' and suppliers' capabilities.
