When a rotating fastener is misaligned with a tapped hole, cross threading can occur, a condition prevented by Acupoint, which locates a tapped hole and provides proper alignment.

Acupoint is an anti-cross threading geometry When a rotating fastener is misaligned with a tapped hole, a no-start condition or cross threading can occur

A new thread forms and the internal thread is destroyed.

With Acupoint, the spherical point at the end of the shank locates the tapped hole and provides proper alignment to ensure positive thread engagement.

Benefits for the assembly line: * Compensates for off-angle condition * Compensates for off-center condition * Locates thread quickly and ensures positive thread engagement * High process capability * Resists cross threading * No thread engagement in misaligned condition and therefore less surface damage Ergonomic benefits * No risk of injury in case of screwed joints with tapped through-hole (by comparison, the point or tip complying with DIN 78 has a higher injury risk in the same applications) * Good starting rate of the screw Economy of geometry and manufacturing process * Optimized screw length by truncated spherical shape.

This reduces the length of thread engagement in blind holes, which saves weight and cost.

* The spherical point is roll formed by non-chipping process an extremely economical design.

Applications A) Off-angle condition Application in which the longitudinal axis of the screw is at an angle to that of the internal thread.

B) Off-center condition Application in which the longitudinal axis of the screw is has parallel offset to that of the internal thread.
