Aerotech issues automation control brochure

An Aerotech product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Apr 8, 2009

Aerotech has released a 72-page brochure that highlights its complete range of high-performance motion and machine controls, software, drives and motor technologies.

The Automation Control Solutions brochure uses actual screen shots, graphics, bullet points and application examples to demonstrate its controls, software tools and product lines.

According to the company, its range of products provides a number of benefits, such as faster production throughput, reduced development timescales and improved final product quality.

Available as a PDF download from Aerotech's website or in hardcopy from any of the company's offices or distribution partners, the brochure compares the features of the company's three motion and machine controller lines: the PC-based Automation A3200 for multi-axis motion and machine control; the standalone single-axis Soloist; and the standalone multi-axis Ensemble range.

The products feature a scalable and common software platform, which is claimed to facilitate configuration, setup, diagnostics, program development and data acquisition.

C#, VB.Net, Managed C++, Labview (Vis provided), Ethernet/IP, Epics and Aerotech's own Aerobasic are all supported.

Advanced commands shown in the brochure include: the harmonic cancellation command, which reduces position error on motion trajectories; position-synchronised output (PSO), which synchronises multi-axis motion with laser-firing output; and friction compensation for reduced error on direction reversals for multi-axis compound positioning.

These commands are field proven and, according to the company, improve throughput across various application areas, including medical stent manufacturing, holographic writing, packaging machine control and semiconductor die bonding.

The brochure also covers complete systems that combine many of these advanced controls, such as the SSaM Nmark laser marking system.

It also includes sections on the networking capabilities of each controller range, controller comparison charts, information on wired and fully tested Aerotech 'Nsys' control consoles and a machine safety overview for all levels of supplied customised systems.

There is an analysis of direct online and individually powered versions of the Ndrive, the Ensemble and the Soloist ranges, as well as overviews of the amplifiers and servomotor technologies that are available.

Lastly, the Automation Control Solutions brochure comprises a market and industries guide, application information and details of its worldwide training and support programme.
