Yamaha IM and Assembleon have renewed their co-operation contract, which perpetuates a 17-year partnership in the global SMD placement market Under the terms of the renewed agreement, Yamaha IM and Assembleon will officially continue to serve the electronics manufacturing market through coordinated design, manufacturing, sales and service functions, meeting the needs of the most demanding customers worldwide

Assembleon CEO Cor Scholten comments: "The cooperation between Yamaha IM and Assembl?on is unique and long-lasting.

Together, we have become the number one supplier worldwide in terms of units and, more importantly, our relationship has brought numerous benefits to our industry in general and to our customers in particular.

We therefore view the renewal of our contract as an important milestone in our relationship." The combined product lines of Yamaha IM and Assembleon provide customers with the widest choice of optimal manufacturing solutions, with economies of scale delivering the best technology at competitive cost-per-placement.

No other supplier partnership can provide a comparable growth path from low volume to high and very high volume for any customer application.

The Assembleon GEM product range delivers the dominant solution in the medium-volume high-mix manufacturing sector in Europe and The Americas, while Yamaha IM versions are also successful in multi-machine installations for high-volume applications in Asia and Japan.

An installed base of over 18 000 machines worldwide is testament to the enduring appeal of these products, which are the choice of both CEM and OEM companies which need maximum operational flexibility, efficiency and reliability.

"Customer focus, optimal flexibility and superb reliability will remain the key drivers for our success", Scholten confirms.

"Our partnership has consistently delivered new products over the years using an evolutionary development model.

This pattern will continue.

The second half of 2004 will see the introduction of the next medium-volume machine version, with even more flexibility, while further exciting products will follow in the course of next year.".
