Suitable for application in large-volume products, extremely compact and cost effective position sensors work on the 'measure-by-wire' principle ASM introduces a new generation of extremely compact and cost effective Position Sensors for measurement ranges up to 1m

These sensors are most suitable for application in large-volume products (OEM applications).

WS31 and WS42 precise low cost Position Sensors work according to the proven Measure-by-Wire principle.

Draw wire sensors use a flexible stainless steel cable winding onto a precision drum via a tracking cable guide.

Cable tensioning is provided by a specially designed coil spring.

In use, the cable is attached to a moving object while the body of the sensor is fixed to a stationary point.

The linear cable movement of the position sensor is converted into an angle motion of the drum axis, to which a precision potentiometer or an encoder is bound as an angle sensor element.

Control signals proportional to the position of the measured object can be generated in this way.

The following interfaces are available: potentiometric, 4-20mA for current output, or a digital incremental output.

The installation of the Position Sensor WS31 and WS42 is easy and economical.

The sensor can be mounted onto an assembly surface with a free movable clamp.

As an option, it is also available with female-threaded nuts for easy screwing installation.

Due to their favourable price-performance ratio ASM's Position Sensors WS31 and WS42 are best suited for almost unlimited various feedback-positioning tasks.

Their compact dimensions make them ideal for integration into existing systems without any significant constructional changes by the customer.
