Intended for motion control applications in harsh, damp environments, hybrid stepper motors have IP55-rated motor housings and ensure that moisture is kept out of the motor electrics.

IP55 hybrid stepper motors A new range of size 34 hybrid stepper motors has been introduced by Astrosyn International Technology With IP55-rated motor housings, the L-series motors are intended for motion control applications in harsh, damp environments

Connection of lead wires to the motor via a sealed PG gland into a rear-mounted terminal box ensures that moisture is kept out of the motor electrics.

"This makes them ideal for use in the food industry, for example," explained Simon Hunt, Astrosyn's technical sales director, "since process equipment has to be regularly washed down and decontaminated." Another expected application area is in machine tools, where the presence of cutting fluid represents a demanding environment.

The L-series IP55 range consists of seven models, with one, two or three stack rotors, each available with standard or high performance rare earth magnet options.

The step angle is 1.8 degrees and the maximum holding torque is up to 760Ncm.

For closed loop applications, an optional encoder-ready mounting can be fitted, and the full range of Astrosyn drives and motor accessories is available for these products.
