Powertrain testing system updates
quicker
Anthony Best has re-coded and optimised the areas that access the Results Database during the 'Processing results' stage at the end of production test cycles on its Plato testing system.
Anthony Best Dynamics has further strengthened Plato's position as a world-leading objective noise/vibration measurement and analysis system for powertrain and power-steering testing for: end-of-line; off-line audit; R and D; durability; in-vehicle, and pass-by Here are some of the highlights from the new version

Brochure overviews operation of NVH testing
A 16-page brochure overviews the operation of objective NVH measurement and analysis system - specifically, when operating in conjunction with test stands (end-of-line, audit and R and D).
* Faster updating of results database - we have re-coded and optimised the areas that access the Results Database (RDB) during the 'Processing Results' stage at the end of production test cycles, and we're pleased to report much improved performance.
Version 5.34 is therefore much faster to get ready to start testing your next product and it will maintain this performance over a much longer period of time.
Also, we have added a simple 'Re-initialise Database' button to the RDB dialogue (just in case you find yourself still wanting to archive your existing RDB and start again).

Production line NVH powertrain testing advanced
Athony Best Dynamics has been developing NVH systems further, particularly for 'end-of-line' and 'off-line' audit for powertrain and power steering testing systems for production.
Documents bring update on NVH testing
The following documents from ABD have recently been updated and they are available to anybody wishing to keep up-to-date with objective NVH testing of powertrain and power-steering assemblies.
* 'Order-Locked Resampling' is 2.5x faster - those of you that operate with the RevKit add-on for objective analysis of synchronous events (our name for knock and click type, transient noises/vibrations) will be pleased to hear that the OLR (order-locked resampling action) has been optimised to make it run approximately 2.5-times faster.
The OLR-action is often the bottleneck in many RevKit processes, so many Plato-RevKit users can expect to see dramatic reductions in their 'Processing Results' stage at the end of production test cycles.
* 'Superfast RevKit' - in the same vein as above, we have also opened up a 'fast-trak' route for synchronous event analyses which, under certain circumstances, can remove the need for order-locked resampling altogether.
This exciting development allows order analysis (for periodic signals) and synchronous event (SE) analysis (for repetitive, transient signals) to be carried out in parallel from the same raw data, including from speed sweeps.
As such, it should open the 'SE-door' to applications that simply did not have time to capture two sets of raw data.
* Enhancement to ABD's Correlation-Optimising Service - our headquarters in England has always provided a service to users of test stand based Plato systems to optimise their result grading metrics and pass/fail criteria on the test stand, using results of subjective and/or objective assessments of noise in-vehicle.
Correlation-optimising is a subject very dear to our hearts (in fact, for the passenger vehicle market, we still fail to comprehend why obtaining a certain level of correlation is not a condition-of-contract).
We have therefore added another tool to our armoury, which we call the ULT-optimiser.
Simply decide on a batch of products and test them (a) on your Plato-based test stand and (b) in a representative target vehicle.
Although we can accept objective data from in-vehicle, we prefer to work with subjective ratings; not because the correlation process is harder, but because at the end of the day, it is your customers' subjective opinions that count.
We can receive all the data via email and turn round a modified set-ups database (SDB) via email that will make your test stand a more accurate predictor of in-vehicle performance.
