A-tek Systems has launched what it claimed is a low cost product topping machine that can be used for pizzas, lasagne, pies, gateaux, and sandwiches, for example.

The concept of the machine is to create the pattern of the topping to be applied on to a topping belt then, when the product to be topped passes below the topping belt, the pre-defined shape is transferred at the same speed as the product to layer it on.

The Product Topper can be used for border free products and used with toppings such as diced fruit, grated cheese, diced vegetables and granular products, for instance, said A-Tek.

A discreet weighment is dropped in to the high speed in-feed vibrator, which has a tubular outlet to concentrate the topping in to the centre of the diffuser chamber.

During the decent of the product, it is forced on to various deflectors that assist in forming the topping patter at the base of the mask, added the company.
