Low cost packaging void filling makes no
mess

A desktop packaging void-fill system is claimed to be fast and easy-to-use, providing protective air-filled cushions at a rate of 15 linear metres per minute.

Automated Packaging Systems has reported record sales of its Airpouch Express 3 void-fill system for product protection during shipping The Airpouch desktop void-fill system is claimed to be fast and easy-to-use, providing protective air-filled cushions to meet end-of-line packing requirements at a rate of 15 linear metres per minute, said the company

Said to be environmentally friendly, the cushions provide a what is described as 'no-mess' packing that results in reduced shipping, disposal and recycling costs.

Its cushions offer protection and padding and are suitable for components, spare parts, CDs, books, electronics, pharmaceuticals, electrical items, mail order centres, fulfilment houses and automotive parts distribution, added the company.

One Airpouch Express user, Barton Jones Packaging, supplies a range of standard and specialist packaging materials to industry, commerce and retail.

Commenting on the company's use of the product, Graham Jackson, the company's sales director, said: "We use Airpouch to produce ready made bags of filled pouches, which we sell from our brochure in place of traditional void fills.

The range is becoming increasingly popular in place of traditional cushioning methods.

Our customers like the product because it's clean, easy to use and provides a more aesthetically pleasing package when received by their customers.

It is also easier to dispose of than the traditional forms of void fill." Another user, Monument Tools, which specialises in plumbing tools and drain cleaning added its own comments.

Director Jonathan Collier, said: "The Airpouch has saved us the time in cutting down boxes and cartons for smaller items in addition to added protection for loose articles.

It is fast, reliable and easy to set up and operate.

It is a valuable addition to our shipping operations." Talking about the success of Airpouch at Abgene, distribution manager Bernard Whitney commented: "After evaluating various machines on the market, it was immediately clear that Airpouch produced a smoother operation and was smaller and more streamlined, which is ideal if space is an issue.

We used polystyrene chips for many years believing them to be easier and quicker to pour in to pallets, when in fact our customers disliked the mess it created when unpacking.

Using the air pouches not only makes it quicker to fill a pallet, it also makes it a very much cleaner operation.

Storage was quite an issue for us as the polystyrene chips came in very large bulky bags, they were difficult to store and we were constantly running out of stock." And he added: "Having Airpouches delivered in small boxes makes it so much simpler to store under the work benches in the warehouse and without the worry of running out or forgetting to order weekly.

Staff are also happier using the air pouches, making it quicker to pack the pallets and without the mess. Request a free brochure from Automated Packaging Systems ...
