Design to manufacturing process accelerated
Manufacturing software to accelerate and simplify design to manufacturing process and includes Autodesk Inventor 11 3D mechanical design software.
Inventor should also help speed time to market by eliminating a complete stage in the design to production process.
At the moment, drawings are done in AutoCAD and then digital photography is used for assembly and build information.
Using Inventor, assembly information can be derived from the 3D model eliminating the time-consuming step.

Autodesk Inventor Series Reigns
Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Inventor Series Reign as the No. 1 selling 3D Mechanical Design Software for the Third Year in a Row
HiTek Power design leader Steve Mason and project manager James Hall explain that before making the decision a team of CAD designers did a thorough study and testing of both Autodesk and SolidWorks technology.
Autodesk reseller MICE Technical Graphics was able to demonstrate the benefits of Inventor in a practical way and show how it would integrate with HiTek Power's printed circuit board (PCB) software.
"Apart from the other advantages, we can see that there is significant investment going into Inventor and it obviously has a secure future," says Mason.
HiTek Power is already producing some designs in 3D using AutoCAD, but recognises it needs to move onto more advanced 3D modelling.
"As with every other company in the market we are under strong pressure to get our products to market quicker.
Typically, we are running at around 30 per cent over our own target time lines and with Inventor we hope to improve," says Hall.
The team underlines that HiTek Power has already made a significant investment in AutoCAD.
"We've been delighted in what AutoCAD has already done for us and pleased that with Inventor we can continue to optimise this outlay.
This means we purchased Inventor at approximately half the cost of using an alternative product as this was an upgrade to AutoCAD." MICE is the leading supplier of Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions in the South of England, focusing on the electro-mechanical industry.
It has provided HiTek Power with a fully integrated electronics to mechanical design solution comprising Zuken Cadstar PCB design software, Latimer-CAD link software and Autodesk Inventor Series.
John Jervis, senior sales engineer at MICE says: "Through understanding the needs of the entire design department we have provided a solution that seamless integrates their electronics and mechanical design teams." Hall reports that MICE has provided training and consultancy and HiTek is currently working on several large projects with Inventor and will begin any new projects using the technology.
"It won't be until around the end of the year before we can assess the real advantages but we are all committed to Inventor and see it as the real way forward," he concludes. Request a free brochure from Autodesk ...
