Micro Concepts Ltd, a leading supplier of engineering CAD solutions, and ToolBox (UK) Ltd, a leading distributor of CAM and 5-Axis systems, have today signed a CAD/CAM alliance to provide manufacturing companies in the South East of England with more focused and closely integrated computer-aided design and manufacturing solutions and consultancy services The alliance is designed to enable the two companies, both Autodesk Authorised Resellers, to share knowledge in their specialised core areas of expertise

Manufacturing companies that have a machining or specialised CAM requirement will have access to consultancy, technical expertise, support and training through ToolBox, whereas customers with a requirement to extend their ability to create, manage and share their design information, will be assisted by Micro Concepts.
The partnership will enable Cambridge-based Micro Concepts, one of Autodesk's leading resellers in the south of England, to focus on developing its CAD manufacturing solutions.
It will also allow it to develop further specialist applications and tools as a member of the Autodesk Developer Network and to enhance further its portfolio of third party software to support its customers.

Micro Concepts is already a certified Autodesk System Centre, an Approved Training Centre and sells and supports the full range of Autodesk 2D and 3D solutions, including Autodesk Inventor.
"Our focus in 2004 is to concentrate all our resources on small companies in the mechanical and manufacturing sectors," said Peter Hurst, managing director, Micro Concepts.
"This alliance will enable us to concentrate on our core strengths of helping our customers design better quality products and bring them to market faster by providing a more integrated end-to-end solution." The alliance will also allow ToolBox (UK) to concentrate on developing its business as a CAM partner to Autodesk Ltd and as a distributor for OPEN MIND CAM products.
Customers of both companies that have a machining need will now have a dedicated resource at their disposal.
"Our CAM business is now by far the largest part of our operation and it is vital to focus our sales and technical resources on what is becoming a highly specialised area," said Steve De Banks, managing director, ToolBox (UK).
"We have collaborated with Micro Concepts for many years and this partnership really formalises the arrangement and will ensure that our customers get a first class and well-integrated CAD/CAM solution." Autodesk Ltd is supportive of the alliance.
