Buk materials handling system manufacturer has chosen to standardise on the design and process automation software in the UK, USA and India to help reach its 'ultimate vision' of a seamless workflow.
The software will be especially adapted to UK design standards.
Autodesk believes that this move will provide the industry with the right technology to help to meet targets for "smarter" roads and the building of asset management systems set in the government's Traffic Management Bill and also the Ten Year Transport Plan.
Novapoint high-end solutions combine outstanding visualisation capability with easy-to-use Windows-based tools to enable government authorities and contractors create manage and share secure road design data with team members and other organisations involved throughout the lifetime of the project.

This will enable informed decisions that save time and expense of construction, maintenance and beyond.
The software is built on Autodesk Map 3D 2005, a powerful 2D and 3D precision mapping and GIS analysis tools to create, maintain and produce maps, to integrate data from all sources and formats, analyse this data and produce thematic maps.
The software allows users to collect and incorporate highly precise design data such as terrain model information and import and export the resulting design without losing accuracy or precision.
Although this will be ViaNova's first entry into the UK market, the Oslo-based company has a impressive track record of customers across other regions of the globe including the Swedish National Road Administration.
"We are about 250 engineers using the system within our organisation.
Each year 1,000 projects are designed," said Mica Wikberg, project manager of development and maintenance for the Swedish National Road Administration.
"Before having access to the Autodesk solution and Novapoint, we used an in-house development system for road design, but it was too costly to maintain and was based on an obsolete IT platform.
"The main benefits of the combined Autodesk-Novapoint solution are low maintenance, the fact that it's based on an industry platform - Autodesk Map, the speed, ease of use, and very important to us is that it includes Swedish national design standards.
Using this system, the designer now has more time to use his engineering skills to find the best solutions for traffic and safety, the environment, and construction costs." "Novapoint is a system developed by professionals for professionals.
ViaNova and Autodesk have been working closely together for many years towards a vision of Infrastructure Lifecycle Management - facilitating data flow through the complete lifetime of a project and beyond, from early design phase, through construction into a road management system and back to the next design phase.
Together, we are a formidable team, able to provide the right software tools, expertise and industry knowledge at an important time for the UK market," says ViaNova IT managing director, Patrick McGloin.
"Working more closely with ViaNova means we can now provide our many Autodesk Map and AutoCAD users in UK with an easy method of creating designs and virtual models of roads and highways based on their existing investments.
I am confident the market is ready for this new design suite and will be taken with the standard of graphics and how Novapoint simplifies the whole design process." says Alan Wild, strategic accounts manager for transportation, Autodesk Infrastructure Solutions Division.
