Checking Time Cut by 75%

Autodesk Vault, the work-in-progress data management tool included within Autodesk Inventor Series, has speeded up the design process at Darchem

Thermal engineering firm Darchem has found that using Autodesk Vault, the work-in-progress data management tool included within Autodesk Inventor Series, has speeded up the design process considerably By using Autodesk Vault with Inventor it has completed 20 projects in three months, it has reduced time spent checking manufacturing details by 75% and cut drawing time by one third

Gerry Traynor, design engineer explains that because Darchem designs and manufactures insulation and fire-protection systems for nuclear and petrochemical plants, stringent and efficient processes are essential.

By maximising the value of its data, re-using where possible and passing it on downstream to the manufacturing process it is achieving almost 100% "right first time" accuracy.

Using Vault to manage its large volume of design data has also helped to resolve certain network resource issues, reducing file loading time from minutes to seconds.

Vault is an easy-to-use, work-in-progress data management tool integrated with all of Autodesk's MCAD products, including Inventor Series and Inventor Professional.

It makes work-in-progress data more accessible and reusable and eliminates the problem of different team members using different versions.

"Our work is very high level assembly and with a large team, we were constantly looking back over historical data to find components to fit or modify.

With everything carefully managed by Vault this process is now significantly more efficient," says Gerry Traynor.

"Another benefit is that I am able to view the status of each drawing which means project management can be far more controlled.

I don't have to keep questioning team members on their progress, I can just check automatically." Jerry Bishop of Autodesk reseller CADlogic Scotland says that Darchem is one of the increasing number of Inventor users discovering how Vault enables data management without huge enterprise-level investment.

"Darchem found that it was easy to deploy and minimal training was needed. Request a free brochure from Autodesk ...

They were up and running and enjoying the benefits very quickly.".
